This presentation will explain how we modified resource types from both of these data sources and then synthesized the resource types to appear together in the resource type facet. I'll first go over an explanation of Primo Central resource types, followed by a general explanation of local resource types and how they are created. Next I'll describe the problem we faced in reconciling our existing local resource types with the seemingly inflexible Primo Central resource types, including the "lightbulb moment" we had that helped define a new philosophical approach to re-configuring resource types. Finally, I'll go into the Back Office changes that are necessary for making this happen (Normalization Rules, Mapping tables, Code tables, etc.). Even if a site does not employ Primo Central and/or a blended search option, the presentation should be helpful for gaining understanding in how to make changes to both local and PCI resource types. date: 2015-05-07 date_type: published full_text_status: restricted pres_type: paper event_title: ELUNA 2015 event_location: Minneapolis, Mn event_dates: May 5 - 8, 2015 event_type: conference refereed: FALSE citation: Rogers, Mike (2015) How to Modify and Synthesize PCI and Local Resource Types for a Blended Search.
