With UMass planning to move a significant portion of their print collection to remote shelving in the next decade, the Libraries wanted to ensure students and faculty would have a way to virtually browse these off-site materials. This presentation will describe how we built the backend technology and how we designed and developed the user interface, in order to re-create the serendipity of browsing the stacks. date: 2015-05-06 type: Conference or Workshop Item type: NonPeerReviewed format: application/pdf language: en identifier: https://beta-documents.el-una.org/id/eprint/1299/1/virtual_serendipity20150506_345.pdf identifier: Peterson, Ron (2015) Virtual serendipity: creating a virtual shelf browse with Aleph.
