With UMass planning to move a significant portion of their print collection to remote shelving in the next decade, the Libraries wanted to ensure students and faculty would have a way to virtually browse these off-site materials. This presentation will describe how we built the backend technology and how we designed and developed the user interface, in order to re-create the serendipity of browsing the stacks. date: 2015-05-06 date_type: published full_text_status: restricted pres_type: paper event_title: ELUNA 2015 event_location: Minneapolis, Mn event_dates: May 5 - 8, 2015 event_type: conference refereed: FALSE citation: Peterson, Ron (2015) Virtual serendipity: creating a virtual shelf browse with Aleph.
