Our library’s initial implementation of MetaLib included placing our catalog in all quick sets. Reference librarians observed student confusion from the mix of formats, and difficulty deciphering citations. Additionally, the inability to pull call number into the MetaLib record caused difficulty for students trying to locate items. This spring, we will remove the catalog from quick sets to observe the effect on searching, article retrieval, and number of hits. The presentation will discuss experimental results. We anticipate changes in both statistics, and student behavior. However, like any experiment, we may have surprising results to report! date: 2009-05-06 date_type: published full_text_status: restricted pres_type: speech event_title: ELUNA 2009 event_location: Richmond, Va. event_dates: 6-8 May 2009 event_type: conference refereed: FALSE citation: Chenoweth, Linda and Jarvis, Mary (2009) Effect of Including Catalog Results in MetaLib Usage.
