abstract: Geoff Sinclair, Manager of Technical Services, Nipissing University and Canadore College

The author had modified an SFX target parser in 2007 to direct requests for articles in Dissertations Abstracts (several journals) to a title search of ProQuest Dissertations and Theses (database).  Newer parsers will now direct requests to the unique ID of the document in ProQuest Dissertations and Theses. In trying to determine if this target parser had been superseded entirely, the author undertook an inventory of the various sources, and will summarize how sources link to dissertations presently, and how links to dissertations may be formed in the future.
