This presentation will look at an approach taken at VCU Libraries to catalog comic book serials using a locally created set of comic book genres in Aleph and a collaborative workflow between Special Collections and Cataloging staff. A workflow has been established to allow Special Collections staff to add genres and volume information to OCLC records in Connexion, which are then processed using a Perl program and loaded in Aleph with the Marcive loader. The presentation will review the creation of the comic book genre authority file in Aleph, cataloging workflow, and functioning of the genre index in the OPAC. </mods:abstract><mods:classification authority="lcc">Aleph</mods:classification><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8601">2009-05-08</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Conference or Workshop Item</mods:genre></mets:xmlData></mets:mdWrap></mets:dmdSec><mets:amdSec ID="TMD_eprint_245"><mets:rightsMD ID="rights_eprint_245_mods"><mets:mdWrap MDTYPE="MODS"><mets:xmlData><mods:useAndReproduction>
