USMAI instituted a simultaneous release of sixteen SFX instances in its single ALEPH catalog that was preceded by several months of consortial planning which established common service expectations, tailored the SFX menu and created new services, conducted usability testing, devised effective authentication, and prepared for batch loads of new electronic resource records.
