title: Providing Access to the HathiTrust Titles Without Adding Millions of Objects to the SFX Knowledge Base

abstract: The California Digital Library is one of the partner institutes in the HathiTrust, http://www.hathitrust.org/, and to date has contributed over 2 million items to the HathiTrust database. Most of contributed items are older out of print titles which have been digitized as part of the Google Books Project. One of the ways we are planning to provide access to the HathiTrust titles is via a new SFX target. The new SFX target has a companion PlugIn which uses the HathiTrust Bib API to determine if the item is available. This presentation will talk about the new target and its companion PlugIn, which source databases are most likely to have content that would trigger this new target to appear in the SFX menu window and usage data.
