Using XC, libraries can automate metadata harvesting from Voyager or Aleph, prepare it for use in current discovery tools, and experiment with transforming it in ways that will make it useful in future systems. XC software cleans up legacy metadata and transforms it into FRBRized linked data, setting the stage for a full implementation of RDA. Gaining expertise in these areas will enable libraries to be better-informed partners with library vendors in designing online products for libraries. date: 2010-05-11 date_type: published full_text_status: restricted pres_type: speech event_title: ELUNA 2010 event_location: Fort Worth, Texas event_dates: 11-13 May 2010 event_type: conference refereed: FALSE citation: Bowen, Jennifer (2010) Preparing for the Next Generation of Library Technology Using eXtensible Catalog (XC) Software.
