Needing to upgrade and replace our server, we were planning a summer upgrade when we investigated moving to the cloud rather than continuing to host our own server. The decision was made to move not only our ILS, but also our other Ex Libris products to hosted services, so during the summer of 2011, Tulane University moved Voyager, SFX, and MetaLib products to the cloud – all under Ex Libris’s Direct Care level of service. These moves had to be at least partially complete prior to our implementation of Primo, so we were on an accelerated schedule and were handling multiple projects at the same time. In the presentation, we will discuss the process involved in moving each of these services, how we organized each of the moves, what worked and what didn’t, issues we are still trying to resolve, and our suggestions on planning for those interested in moving to the cloud.
